Amboy, CA
Amboy is one of the most famous Route 66 ghost towns in the US. It is located in San Bernardino County, in California's Mojave Desert, west of Needles and east of Ludlow on historic Route 66. It is roughly 60 miles (97 km) northeast of Twentynine Palms. The town of Amboy has been around since the late 1800s. Roy's Motel & Caf茅 was popularized in the 50's during Route 66's heyday. The town is most famous for it's 50 ft neon sign and "Googie-style" architecture lobby. Today, we still operate the Roy's Motel & Caf茅 gas station and the caf茅 has been retrofitted as a convenience and gift shop. Most popular sites to shoot for commercial projects: - Roy's 50 ft neon sign (original neon tubes still operational) -"Googie-style" Lobby Building - Motel Bungalows (6 of them) - Roy's Gas Station (vintage-style 70s gas pumps) - Roy's Caf茅 - Amboy Church - Roy's Airport Garage - Abandoned/Run-Down buildings (rear motel & houses)
